Prohire team working 24/7 owing to the surge in demand caused by COVID-19.

The entire team at commercial vehicle contract hire and fleet management company, Prohire Limited has been working tirelessly due to the demand in Rental and other services such as the FleetLogic Accident Management offering. The support provided has included everyone available from director level, management and back office teams, who thanks to the in depth and longstanding company training policy are all qualified and equipped to support, manage and deliver vehicles to customers as required.

The coronavirus crisis has created an unprecedented demand in three main areas including moving contract hire vehicles from one customer depot to another according to need, secondly maintaining Prohire’s national network of service providers to ensure that vehicles can be maintained and kept on the road, and thirdly meeting the demand for additional rental vehicles from both existing and new customers, especially in the logistics sector as pressure mounts to maintain the movement of essential goods such as food throughout the UK.


Prohire Chief Executive, Pat Skelly explained, “Customers rely on our ability to source and provide vehicles and then manage and maintain them so that fleet availability is maximised. Prohire has always operated 24/7/52 as a business, but in the current situation this has never been more critical, We are placing demands on our team who are really rising to the challenge. The response has been tremendously positive; and we are incredibly grateful for the ability of everyone at Prohire to step up to the mark. Maintaining strict adherence to Government guidelines as we are doing on social distancing, hygiene and the provision of clean areas within the business makes this even more challenging, but we are managing to deliver our responsibilities as key workers safely and effectively.

“The demand for more vehicles is of course from food companies in particular – both dry freight and temperature controlled – but also from other industries such as building and pharmaceuticals. We are seeing not only conventional deliveries to stores and distribution centres stepped up, but also the emergence of new services as customers move to provide home delivery and kerbside drop, where they never have before.

“The vehicles required are just as varied, from three and a half tonne vans and tractor units and trailers, through to trucks fitted with specialist equipment. Not only are existing customers ramping up their transport capabilities, but numbers of new customers are coming to us for top up vehicles as Coronavirus has affected the nation.”
